General Recruitment FAQs
How do I join?
Formal recruitment here at Tarleton State University is conducted in the beginning of the fall semester over Labor Day weekend. During this weekend long process, you meet each chapter one at a time while meeting new people and getting to know one another. Keep an eye out for information on 2022 fall recruitment. If you are unable to participate in fall formal recruitment, but are still interested in joining a sorority, you may participate in Continuous Open Bidding (COB).
COB begins in the spring semester here at Tarleton State. Please note that not all chapters may recruit via COB. This means that chapters participating in COB may be limited. Stay tuned for information on COB this Spring.
Can I go through Recruitment as an upperclassman or transfer student?
Yes. Provided that you have not been initiated into an NPC sorority at Tarleton State University you may participate within formal recruitment.
Is there a required GPA minimum to go through Recruitment?
Although Panhellenic does not require a specific GPA to participate in formal recruitment or COB, each chapter has a set GPA requirement to be eligible for membership. Academics is held as a priority within our Panhellenic community and chapters requiring a minimum GPA allows for women to be held accountable and strive for the best.
What should I expect during the formal recruitment process?
On the first night of recruitment you will be meeting with your Rho Gamma (Recruitment Counselor) and other PNM's where you will receive more information on the days to come as well as be able to ask any questions you might have in order to get a better understanding of the process.
What if I am going through recruitment alone?
Don't sweat it at all. You and every other PNM (Potential New Member) will be assigned to a specific Rho Gamma. This Rho Gamma will be there for you through every second of this process.
Do I need recommendation letters?
Recommendation letters are not required, however if you have an already established relationship with an alumna of one of the 5 chapters at Tarleton, you may ask them about their chapter's individual recommendation process.
What should I wear?
You will be provided a shirt for the second night of recruitment when you meet the chapters for the first time. Check out our Instagram Highlight Reel over outfit ideas.
How much does being in a sorority cost?
Each chapter has their own set amount of dues for each semester/month. You may ask or you will receive specific information from each chapter during recruitment on their dues. Compared to Greek life at other or larger universities, Greek life at Tarleton is considered very affordable.
What would be your biggest piece of advice?
Make sure to go through recruitment with an open mind. We understand you might have preconceived notions about chapters but this process is meant to help you find a connection and a lifelong sisterhood.
