Legacy Status

What is a Legacy?

A Legacy is a PNM who is related to an alumna or active member of a particular sorority. A sorority is not obligated to extend a bid to its legacies, and each sorority has their own legacy policy set forth by their national or international headquarters. Below is more information on each of the five NPC sororities we have at Tarleton State University in regards to their legacy recognition. If you have any additional questions regarding a chapter's Legacy Status recognition, please visit the sororities headquarters website.

Alpha Gamma Delta

An Alpha Gamma Delta legacy is a woman who is a daughter, step-daughter, sister, step-sister, granddaughter or step-granddaughter to an Alpha Gamma Delta member in Good Standing. The Alpha Gamma Delta Legacy Policy states: "An Alpha Gamma Delta legacy should be extended the same courtesy that is given to all recruitment guests."

Alpha Omicron Pi

Alpha Omicron Pi recognizes legacies including the sisters, daughters, granddaughters; step-sisters, step-daughters, or step-granddaughters; and adopted sisters, daughters, or granddaughters of our initiated members in good standing with Alpha Omicron Pi.

Delta Phi Epsilon

A legacy is the biological or adopted daughter (step), granddaughter/great-granddaughter (step), sister (half/step), or niece of an initiated member of Delta Phi Epsilon International Sorority.

Delta Zeta

A Delta Zeta legacy is defined as the biological or adopted daughter, granddaughter, great-granddaughter or sister of an initiated member (alive or deceased) of any Delta Zeta Chapter. This may include legal guardians, half sisters or step relations if the relationship to the Delta Zeta member has been a close one.

Phi Mu

A Phi Mu legacy will be extended the same courtesy that is given to all Potential New Members.
Phi Mu continues to define a legacy as a sister, half-sister, step-sister, daughter, step-daughter, granddaughter or great-granddaughter of a Phi Mu in good standing with the Fraternity.
